The Wellness Center offers FREE relaxation workshop

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - The Wellness Center at WVU Medicine Berkeley Medical Center will be offering a free relaxation workshop titled "Pre- and Post-Holiday De-Stress" with Kara Combs, M.P.H.

The two-session workshop will be held from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 7 and Monday, Jan. 4 in the second floor conference room of the McCormack Center on the campus of Berkeley Medical Center. Those interested can attend one or both of the workshops.

“The purpose of the workshop is to present practical information to help you learn to cope with the stress of the holidays. We can be overwhelmed this time of year and lose focus on our health and well-being,” Dana DeJarnett, health promotion specialist for The Wellness Center, said. “This workshop will help you take a minute to relax and remind you to take care of yourself and, as a result, enjoy your holidays more.”

According to Combs, everyone has some source of stress in their lives.

“The idea is not to remove it, but to reframe it or find a way to better manage it. Often, we are not taught these skills. This will help learns ways to cope with stress and teach the skills needed to practice daily conscious relaxation,” she added.
